Cartel Sessions: Bill White & Sonoran Swamprats

Featuring

Bill White is a guitarist and composer originally from Nampa, Idaho. He has appeared frequently throughout the United States as both soloist and chamber musician, presenting works which bring new ideas to both classical and electric guitar, with recent performances focusing on works for guitar and electronics. Bill has released two albums - Moderno non Troppo, featuring seldom-heard solo guitar works, and Echoes, a collection of contemporary music for viola and guitar, featuring him and his wife Elizabeth as Duo Violao. Bill holds a Doctorate in guitar performance from Arizona State University, and currently teaches at Phoenix College.

Formed out of their mutual love for intensity and the quirky things in life that spark joy, Sonoran Swamprats is the brainchild of Alanna Benoit and Julia Lougheed, two professional bass clarinetists who grew up in the swamp and are now living in Phoenix, AZ. Alanna and Julia both love the versatility of the bass clarinet, and show this versatility off in their repertoire.
